A winner of the 2015 New York City Department of Environmental Protection Green Infrastructure Grant 890 Broadway is one of New York and country’s most famous theatrical buildings.
The building is home to the Ballet Tech School and American Ballet Theatre, and also provides studio space for local dance companies as well as visiting artists. Every great ballet dancer of the past century has pass under its roof. The building is comprised of large naturally lit studios (a rarity in New York), dancers now also enjoy the benefits of a beautiful green roof. The green roof is a blend of over 12 different species of sedum and two honey bee hives.
Ballet Tech will incorporate the green roof into lesson plans for its students and as a long-term building owner all the membrane extension and environmental benefits green roof are known for.
Ballet Tech marks the third project Greensulate the Department of Environmental Protection has approved for the Green Infrastructure Grant.
