Increases Property Values

Green roofs and green walls increase property values and marketability in a number of ways, including:

  • Providing green spaces to view or stroll by, which has been shown to facilitate sales and lease outs, improve employee recruiting, lower employee and tenant turnover, and lead to a higher LEED rating and higher rents.
  • Green roofs and walls improve health and well being for building occupants.
  • Attenuate noise, especially low-frequency sounds. An extensive green roof can reduce sound from outside by 40 decibels; and intensive green roof can reduce sound by 46-50 decibles. (Peck et all 1999)
  • Green roofs and walls help create places for people to gather, ¬†increasing social cohesion and public safety.
